Monday, February 8, 2010 - The Community Center will be closing at 5:00 pm. All meetings are cancelled for this evening. The Fitness Center and Indoor Pool will resume with normal hours. Here are some great pictures from different neighborhoods around Piney Orchard of the Blizzard of 2010. http://www.dotphoto.com/go.asp?l=POCA2010 **Winter Storms** There has been a lot of confusion in the past regarding who is responsible for the snow pushing/removal in the different communities located in Piney Orchard. Piney Orchard Community Association (POCA) is only responsible for the parking lot at the Community Center, the parking lot at the Nature Preserve, and Lotuswood townhome community. All single family home communities are county roads and therefore plowed by Anne Arundel County. Please contact Anne Arundel County Public Works at 410.222.4040 with any questions regarding those streets. If you live in a townhome community, condominium or apartment community, please contact your management company. If you do not know who the management company for HOA is, please visit www.pineyorchard.com and go to Neighborhoods, each management company and a contact person is listed there. As you have likely heard, we are expecting another SUBSTANTIAL snowfall beginning Tuesday, Feb 9th into Wednesday, Feb 10th. Here is what to expect: INCONVENIENCE. Here is what to plan for: Any errands you need to do for groceries, medicine, urgent needs – DO THOSE ERRANDS BEFORE THE SNOW STARTS. Do not expect the asphalt and sidewalk areas to be free of snow and/or ice. The roadways are to be made passable. Expect there to be icy and/or snowy areas so if you must venture out, do so using the UTMOST CAUTION. Anne Arundel County Public Works is already instructing people to plan on staying home. They do not want vehicles on the roads. They need time to clear main and secondary roads and treat them to make them safe for travel. If you don’t HAVE to venture out – do not, you only put yourself and possibly others at risk. Single Family homes - EXPECT driveway aprons to be plowed in – there is simply no way to prevent it. As in the past, we recommend you clear your driveway and apron AFTER the plows have made their pass. If you don’t need to get out and can wait until the clean up process to deal with your vehicle and driveway (where applicable) that’s probably your best bet to avoid having to clear your apron twice. Please feel free to contact the Piney Orchard staff at 410.672.4273 with any question you may have. If we are closed during normal business hours due to inclement weather, the best way to reach us is by email.
